ACS – Assessment of Clinical Skills – Mississauga – 5 Months – January 7 – May 27, 2019

June Exam Cycle

Exam Date: June 8-9, 2019

What is Assessment of Clinical Skills

All dentists who want to practice in Canada must adhere to Canadian standards and criteria, which are often different from other countries in the world. To prove they can uphold these standards, all foreign-trained dentists must have their work assessed in the only hands-on exam in the equivalency process.

The NDEB Assessment of Clinical Skills (ACS) Exam is the second or third official step in your journey to becoming a dentist in Canada. The ACS exam tests the practical skills of dentists by requiring them to complete a number of specific projects in a simulated dental clinic. All exams are conducted on manikins with Kilgore plastic teeth, under specific infection control rules that apply throughout the exam.

Assessment of Clinical Skills

The NDEB Assessment of Clinical Skills (ACS) Exam is the second (or third) exam in the Canadian dental equivalency process overseen by the National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) in Canada. This exam tests the practical skills of the candidates by asking them to complete a number of projects on Kilgore plastic teeth in a dental clinic simulated environment. Infection control rules apply throughout the exam.

As of 2014, the exam is conducted twice a year in Dental faculties across Canada.

This is considered the toughest exam in the equivalency process. This is evident by the historical pass rates published by the NDEB with an average pass rate of about 34% over the last six years.

At Prep Doctors®, we offer comprehensive training options for the NDEB Assessment of Clinical Skills (ACS) Exam in Mississauga and Richmond Hill.

Why is training necessary for the NDEB Clinical Skills Exam?

There are many reasons why you should consider taking supervised NDEB Clinical Skills Training:

Being an internationally-trained dentist in Canada, it is very important to know and practice to the Canadian standards and criteria which in many cases are different from other parts of the world. In turn, it is important to have your work assessed by experts in the Canadian standards.

The NDEB clinical skills exam is conducted using plastic teeth which are different than real life practice. We found that it is essential to practice enough on those plastic teeth in order to pass the exam.

As mentioned previously, the average for the NDEB Assessment of Clinical Skills exam over the last 6 years is about 34%.

One of the most important reasons to take this training course is to save time and money. Every unsuccessful attempt will cost you one of your exam’s 3 attempts along with potential lost income from working as a Dentist for 6 months. So, why take chances?

Our team of instructors consists of a mix of Canadian licensed dentists and internationally trained dentists that have cleared the equivalency exams. Our instructors also have dental education experience abroad and in Canadian Universities such as the University of Toronto and Western University Faculties of Dentistry.
